    Hello Srikrishna

Thanks for the Info. Appreciate your effort in doing KT. 🙂

Small clarification about the alert log location in R12. I guess it depends on the database version in place.

If the database is 11g, the alert log is in $ORACLE_HOME/../../diag/rdbms///trace/ location.( or atleast something like that as the diagnostic top location is decided during the db install with ORACLE_BASE – if you chose advanced installation.)

    Please correct me if wrong.

    Best Regards
    Sree

Sorry, I think the location was truncated in my update.

It was supposed to be $ORACLE_HOME/../../diag/rdbms/sid/SID/trace/

Yes, You are right Harsha. The default installation of R12 comes with 10g and if R12 is using 11g database, it stores the trace files in DIAGNOSTIC_DEST value. This is the new parameter introduced in 11g database. This home stores all the logs and traces of all the oracle components like ASM, CRS, listener, DB at a single location unlike oracle 10g.
This is same as ADR home. The Automatic Diagnostic Repository (ADR) stores diagnostic data such as alter log, trace files, user and background dump files, and also new types of troubleshooting files such as Health Monitor reports, Incident packages, SQL test cases and Data repair records.
    BTW, how are you Harsha?
    Thanks
    SRI

    Hi,
Is there a way to change the log and output file destination of oracle applications/module.
By default, all are dumped to $APPLCSF/APPLLOG and $APPLCSF/APPLOUT.
I need to make it $APPLCSF/AR for Receivables reports log and output, $APPLCSF/AP for Payables.

    Regards

    Hi,
found it, remove the $APPLCSF in the context. But the destination will take the default TOP directory of the module.
    regards
